So March is here, and with it comes a whole lot of changes and new stuff in my life.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been so good with change. So when I found out I have to leave the place I’ve been living for years, and move apartments — right in the same month when I’m finishing a book? I was not happy. In fact, here’s a pretty true to life clip of how I took the news:
(Buffy! Oh, the memories…)
But you know what? After I stopped crying and panicking, I hit craigslist, and went out and found an amazing studio. Now I can’t wait to move, and I’m so happy, I’m like:
That’s the big lesson for me in all this (aside from how Carlton dancing NEVER GETS OLD): you might not like the thing that forces you to go out and shake things up, but you can turn it into an amazing opportunity. If you think about it, most of the big changes that define our lives are things we don’t plan for: meeting the right partner, having kids, changing jobs… Usually, we’re thrust in head first, and although our first reaction might be, “Oh crap!”, we can usually find a way to make things work, and wind up even happier about how things worked out.
So, in the next weeks, I will have a birthday, release UNBROKEN out into the wild, and move into my very own studio apartment, to live without room-mates for the first time. I’m so excited by all the new challenges ahead, and I can’t wait to share them with you!
Have a great weekend.
